Here is a list of stages in a Contest Divorce Proceedings, I have Provided the information in the most simpliest manner so that one can easily understand it:

Stage 1: Either spouse File a petition for divorce

Stage 2: there will be reply /counter from the respondent spouse

after the reply...

Stage 3: original divorce applicant file replication (but before this normally wife file application u/s 24 for interim maintenece)

Stage 4: then reply to section 24  then re-joinder by wife u/s 24, then in between... many misc applications when 24 decided

Stage 5: then there will be, evidence with affidafit by original divorce applicant

Stage 6: after husband's and wife' cross examination will take place

Stage 7: then opponent's evidence with affidafit

Stage 8: then opponent 's cross

Stage 9: Then there will be argument

Stage 10: Finally after the argument stage order will be passed by the honorable court, thats all.

In most cases this entire procedure takes a few years to complete.
