Web data mining determines exploiting data from the website. Amid advancing data scams, the European Union (EU) came with the GDPR directives. It came into effect from May 25, 2018. It allows digging data from the authentic data sources that ensure compliance with the new data rule.

Are you a business intelligence developer?

Or, do you sell the marketing patterns to target customers?

A data mining company exploits a heap of data to derive out some valuable patterns. These are the patterns that define of the future strategies. They can be marketing strategies to scale up a product’s sale. Or, they can prove a brand maker by manipulating customers’ opinions.

The mining of data depends on the available data. Now, assume a scenario-what if the datasets are limited? Or, What if you don’t get the data of your requirement to churn out?

These situations are likely to arise soon. The GDPR or General Data Protection Regulation came into effect from May 25, 2018. It has deterred the blindfolded groping of the information sources. Although the countries in the European Union (EU) would follow its directives, yet it would cast its strong impact on all data sources from across the world.

In the nutshell, it’s going to be very tough to dig through data sources in the upcoming months. Besides, there are a few more effects. They would come with more challenges in the data mining work. Let’s have a look over those effects after the introduction of the GDPR:

Online Collaboration Tools Will Supply More Authentic Data:

Since the GDPR is there, you can’t share an individual’s data unless he is agreed to share it with anyone. According to this data policy, you must have an active consent of the data subject (the one whose the data is). He would have a legal right to withdraw his consent anytime.

This directive came at the very time when the breaking news of Cambridge Analytica scam has put FB’s Mark Zukerberg on fire. The annoyed FB users have closed their accounts. Consequently, its shares dropped by 7%. The loss evaluated worth$36 billion as per the Guardian.

So! What are the data sources that you have been left with? There are a few ones. Collaboration tools are one of those sources.

How do you collaborate with your colleagues and superiors in your office? The workplace is a vast area wherein you need an interactive tool to communicate with. It can be Skype or TickTick. These tools for digital communication are known as the collaboration tools. If you wish for some more examples, they can be Trello, Asana, Wunderlist, Appear.in, Slack and Google Hangout. These are all compliant with the GDPR. They ensure zero vulnerability.

Hence, it’s a possibility that their compliant nature would hook a lot of data mining organizations to outsource web data mining. Thereby, the data will be available in abundance.

Web Data Miners Can Mine Data By Storage Platforms:

The evolution of the cloud & Hadoop has changed the trend of data storage. The IDG’s Enterprise Cloud Computing Survey, 2016 figured out that the U.S. based organizations spent $1.77 million for cloud in 2017. And, the typical IT department that stores data on the desktop and apps has come in minority in 2018. If you talk about the social media, it stores its data on the server.

Despite a ton of benefits, you can’t deny the fact that the server storage is unsafe. Scammers abuse these storage platforms. Eventually, you suffer your personal details. The scam of Cambridge Analytica has proven it.

So! Where should you store your data?

Adopt the storages that follow a law of the data security. It can be Yahoo or Whatsapp. Both services make sure that your privacy won’t be harassed through the scams as aforementioned.  Their law enforcement guide subtly states that they would keep only the IP address, timestamps & durations. You can incorporate with them to mine out data.

But if, any storage service provider compromises with the content of the data-subject, they should be ready to pay the penalty under the GDPR rule.

Data Can Be Manipulated By Cyber Spies:

The enforcement of this data-based law would target those who have abused its guidelines. The legitimate organizations will foster. They would keep bird’s view on the security and privacy of the data. This is how they will secure their digital footprint.

Now, if you look into the intention of the cyber spies, won’t they do the same thing? They would go through the nuts and bolts of the data security system. And eventually, they would derive every new code or malware to put barriers in their tracking.

If you want to mine the data of such hackers, they won’t leave any clue to hit the bull’s eye. Therefore, it would be an uphill battle to hack their malicious practices.

CPM Ads Will Serve Accurate Data:

The CPM ads are a key player to project of who is interested customer. Every 1000 impressions on any webpage denote the CPM or Click Per Mille. However, the advertiser pays a certain amount. But, that cost doesn’t pinch them because these ads enrich them by users’ names according to their specific age, income and gender. That data would be a treasure for the data miners. These ads are compliant to the GDPR norms.
